Frequent Disconnects

My modem disconnects frequently during transfers, is my modem faulty?

Again, maybe not. Try adding the following script to your modems initialization string.

S7=75S9=16S10=36

This increases most modem's tolerance for noise and temporary loss of
carrier, and should help in most situations. Please consult your modem
manual or modem manufacturer for additional information about customized
modem init strings.
