James 5:13-16 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Isaiah 53:5 But he was pierced
for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;the punishment
that brought us peace was upon him,

There are two prayer circles at
Christ Church and a prayer list. One was established almost twenty-two
years ago and has continued "unbroken" during all of that time. The
other began with the establishment of the Order of the Daughters of the
King. There is also a Sunday list of prayer needs which are read aloud
during The Prayers of the People. The DOK provides printed prayer request cards in each pew. If you'd like the Daughters to pray for a need, simply fill out one of the cards and place it in the collection plate. This will also insure that the name is placed on the list for Prayers of the People. To ask for prayers from the other prayer circle, simply call a member of that circle. Nancy Stafford, JoAnne Scullion, Ginny Lovett, Kathy Sanders, Holly Sculthorpe, Reida Flowers, and June Maxwell are all members. Please check your church directory for their numbers. When you request prayers, your request is prayed for immediately as it is passed around the circle, and it is kept confidential. Additionally, there is a group of people at Christ Church who are trained in praying for people with the scriptural "laying on of hands." These people have spent hours studying and praying as they completed three courses created by Christian Healing Ministries, an internationally recognized center founded by Francis and Judith MacNutt. These prayer ministers are available for prayer at the rear of the church during Holy Eucharist every Sunday during both services. They are also available to pray with individuals by appointment. Just call the church office at 882-5308. An appointment with two prayer ministers (Luke 10:1, Mark 6:7) will be arranged around your schedule if it is at all possible. |
Acts 5:12-16 The apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers used to meet together in Solomon's Colonnade. No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people. Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number. As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter's shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by evil spirits, and all of them were healed.
