Altar Guild

If you would like to donate flowers for the altar on Sundays, please contact Francoise Bliss.

Our Altar Guild would be happy to receive a gift of linens at any time.  If you're led to donate some (or funds toward some), please contact Brenda Herring to find out what the specific needs are. See her number below.

O Lord Jesus Christ, who didst accept the ministry of faithful women during your earthly life; We pray you to accept and bless the work that this altar guild undertakes in the care of your sanctuary.  Grant us a spirit of reverence for your house and worship, your Word and Sacraments, and preserve in purity and holiness our own souls and bodies as living temples of Your presence.
Amen.

The Altar Guild at Christ Church is responsible for preparing the sacramental vessels and the altar for every service.  Presently, there are 14 women serving on five teams.

Just before Christmas, 2006, master carpenter Glenn Sculthorpe installed cabinetry designed by the Guild - - what a gift!!  Cabinets at the correct height make polishing brass and washing up after the Eucharist so much easier.  Storage is provided for vessels, for books, for linens and for special service items.  Thank you, Glenn!  Brenda Herring, also a member of the Christ Church vestry, is directress of the Altar Guild.  You may contact her through the church office. (Call 882-5308.)

Francoise Bliss is the Altar Guild member in charge of flowers on the altar.  She, too, can be reached through the church office.

A PRAYER FOR MY RECTOR:

O Lord, let me be a pillar of strength to hold him up, and not  a thorn in his flesh to sap his strength, nor a burden on his back to pull him down.

Let me support him without striving to possess him.

Let me lift his hands without placing shackles around them.

Let me give him help that he may devote more time to working for the salvation of others and less time in gratifying my vanity.

Let me work for him as the minister of all the members, and not compel him to spend precious time bragging about me.

Let me strive to be happy as he serves me less and others more.  AMEN.
