RICHARD BUSH

    Richard Bush lived in the Edgefield District, South Carolina, while providing patriotic service during the Revolutionary War. He provided provisions and forage for General Green's Army from his plantation from 8 June 1781 to 12 October 1782.

ROBERT COLEMAN

    While residing in Marion District, Robert Coleman served as a sergeant and afterwards as a lieutenant under Captain Simmons and Captain Weatherspoon and General Marion. He was in the skirmish at Bass's Mill on the Great Pee Dee River under Maurice Murphy. He was sergeant in the Battle at Fort Moultrie. At one time, he was under Captain Snipes and General Marion as a rifleman. He was in the battles at Monck's Corner and Biggin Church.

    Samuel DeSurrency enlisted as a private on 18 December 1775 and served in the Company of Captain Samuel Wise in the 3rd Regiment of the South Carolina Rangers commanded by Colonel William Thompson. He lived in Cheraw's District Craven County, South Carolina.

HENRY DYESS (DYASS)

    Henry Dyess served as a soldier in the South Carolina militia. Henry Dyass was issued on 12 August 1785, 24 pounds, 5s Stlg. for 97 days Militia Duty in 1781 and 1783.

CHARLES C. HEARD

    Charles Heard resided in the 96th District of South Carolina during the Revolution and served as a Private and a Lieutenant. He served in the South Carolina militia from 1779 to 1783 under Captain John Calhoun and Captain Armstrong Heard. He moved to Wilkes County, Georgia, after receiving a Georgia Land Grant about 1784. Charles had six brothers and all served in the war.

JOHN KNIGHT

    John Knight of the Cheraw District, SC, served as a private. On 5 June 1781, he served 60 days, and as of 23 December in the same year he served 30 days. 1 March 1782, he served 30 days, and again 1 August 1782, he served another 30 days.

JAMES McCALL

WILLIAM MILLWEE

    William Millwee, a Major, started in a volunteer militia company under Captain William Fullwood in October, 1775. He enlisted during November, 1775, while residing in Laurens District, South Carolina, in the militia under Captain James Williams and was at Fort Moultrie. In 1776, he commanded a Company of militia under Colonel James Williams and General Williamson. He was at the siege of Savannah and in the Battle at Stono. In 1780, he was taken prisoner by the Tories and paroled. During May, 1781, he served under General Greene and during 1782, he was under General Pickens on an excursion against the Indians.

JOHN BENTLEY NIXON

John Bentley(Bently) Nixon lived in Charleston District, SC and served as a Civil Officer as a Scalesman in the Commissar of Issues, Department of the South under Major William Hazzard Wigg.  He served 317 Days in 1780 and from 16 December 1782 to 20 March 1783.

    Seth Prior of St. George, Charleston District in South Carolina served as a Private in a company of volunteers under Captain Darius Dalton, in 1775, South Carolina.

WILLIAM SIMPSON

    William Simpson served as a private in the militia under Colonel Brandon during 1779 and 1780 while living in the Laurens District of South Carolina.

    *Mary Simpson is not related to William Simpson.

WILLIAM SMITH

    William Smith, while residing in Spartenburg District, South Carolina, enlisted during the fall of 1775 and served as a Lieutenant under Captain Joseph Wofford and Colonel John Thomas Sr. and was in the Snow Campaign. He also served as Lieutenant under Captain John Thomas Jr. and Colonel John Thomas Sr. during 1776 and was in the battles with the Indians at Tamassee and Black Hole. He became a Captain during 1777 under Colonel John Thomas Sr. In 1778, he was a Captain under Colonel LeRoy Hammond and was in the fight at Rocky Comfort Creek and the Battles at Purysburg and Stono. Next, he was a Captain under Colonel John Thomas Jr. in the Spartan Regiment of General Sumter's brigade. He also served as a Major and was in the Battles at Hanging Rock, Old Iron Works, Musgrove's Mills, Fish Dam Ford, Blackstock's Plantation, Cowan's Ford, Guilford Courthouse, Fort Granby, Quinby Bridge and in numerous skirmishes. In July and August, 1782, he was Adjutant under Major John Ford of the Spartan Regiment. After the war, he was chosen County Judge. He was a member of Congress from 1797 to 1799, and served as a state senator for 20 years.

BOARDWINE WATERS

    Boardwine Waters was a soldier in a regiment commanded by his uncle, Colonel Philemon Waters, participating in the Battle of Stono on 26 June 1779 and in the Battle of Eutow. He lived in the Spartenbury District, South Carolina, during the Revolutionary War.

THOMAS WHALEY

    Thomas Whaley, a resident of Edisto Island, Colleton District, South Carolina, served in the War of Independence as a private, enlisting in the Edisto Island Volunteer Militia on 2 October 1775, under Captain Joseph Jenkins.
